Testing is an important part of moving a Bluetooth audio product from sample evaluation to stable mass production. Different earbuds require different test items, so our testing framework is based on the actual product configuration and the requirements confirmed for the order.

What Do We Test on Bluetooth Earbuds?

The exact test plan depends on whether the product is standard TWS, ANC, open-ear, gaming, translation-related or another Bluetooth audio configuration.

Applicable checks can be grouped into the following areas.


1. Bluetooth & Connection Testing

Stable wireless operation is fundamental to a Bluetooth audio product.

Depending on the model, checks can include:

  • Power on/off

  • Bluetooth discovery

  • Pairing

  • Automatic reconnection

  • Left/right earbud connection

  • Music playback connection

  • Call connection

  • Basic control response

  • Earbud-to-case interaction where applicable

The exact Bluetooth performance requirements depend on the selected platform and product specification.


2. Audio Function Testing

Audio testing should confirm that the product operates correctly according to the approved configuration.

Applicable checks can include:

  • Left/right speaker operation

  • Music playback

  • Channel consistency

  • Abnormal noise

  • Basic listening evaluation

  • Volume/control operation

  • EQ or sound modes where applicable

For OEM/ODM projects requiring acoustic adjustments, the available tuning options depend on the selected chipset, hardware and platform.


3. Microphone & Call Testing

Microphone performance is important for everyday TWS use.

Depending on the product, checks can include:

  • Microphone operation

  • Voice pickup

  • Call function

  • Multiple-microphone operation where applicable

  • ENC/call-noise-reduction functions where applicable

ENC terminology is often used commercially for call-noise-reduction functions. It should not be confused with ANC, which is designed primarily to reduce environmental noise heard by the wearer.


4. ANC & Transparency Function Testing

For ANC earbuds, applicable checks can include:

  • ANC mode activation

  • Mode switching

  • Transparency/ambient mode where applicable

  • Left/right function

  • Basic real-world listening evaluation

  • Microphone/function operation related to the ANC configuration

ANC performance depends on the complete product system, including microphones, acoustic structure, ear-tip seal, speaker, chipset/algorithm and tuning. A single marketing number should not replace sample evaluation.


5. Charging & Power Function Testing

Bluetooth earbuds and charging cases need to operate as one charging system.

Depending on the model, checks can include:

  • Earbud charging

  • Charging-case charging

  • Charging contacts

  • USB charging interface

  • Charging indication

  • Battery/power indication where applicable

  • Basic power-on and power-off behavior

Battery-life claims and detailed endurance requirements should be evaluated according to the agreed product specification and test conditions.


6. Touch Control & Button Testing

Many Bluetooth earbuds use touch controls, physical buttons or both.

Applicable checks can include functions such as:

  • Play/pause

  • Call answer/end

  • Track control

  • Volume control where supported

  • ANC/transparency switching

  • Voice assistant activation where supported

  • Gaming/low-latency mode where supported

The actual control map depends on the selected product platform.


7. Open Ear Product Testing

Open ear earbuds require additional attention because their wearing and acoustic structures differ from sealed in-ear TWS.

Evaluation can include:

  • Wearing stability

  • Comfort

  • Left/right fit

  • Speaker positioning

  • Audio function

  • Microphone function

  • Sound leakage evaluation

  • Charging

  • Product controls

Because ear shapes vary, we recommend that B2B customers evaluate samples with multiple users before approving a model for bulk production.


8. Appearance & Assembly Inspection

Testing is not limited to electronics.

Applicable product inspection can also include:

Sample Testing Before Mass Production

For B2B OEM/ODM projects, we strongly recommend that customers evaluate samples before approving mass production.

A customer sample review should consider actual use rather than only reading a specification sheet.

Evaluate comfort, stability and sound leakage with multiple users.

Testing During the Manufacturing Process

Testing should not be treated as a single isolated event.

The broader production workflow includes specification confirmation, material preparation, assembly, functional checks, cosmetic inspection, branding/packaging verification and final inspection.

Regulatory Testing vs. Factory Product Testing

These are not the same thing.

Factory/product testing focuses on whether the manufactured product functions and matches the agreed order requirements.

Regulatory/compliance testing depends on the destination market, product configuration and applicable regulations, and may require qualified third-party testing or documentation.

We recommend confirming market requirements before mass production rather than assuming that one report or certification applies to every customized configuration.

Do you test every product in exactly the same way?

No. Test items depend on the model, functions and agreed requirements.

Do you test ANC earbuds?

Applicable ANC and transparency functions can be checked for ANC models. Customers should also evaluate approved samples in realistic environments.

Do you test open-ear products differently?

Yes. Open-ear products require attention to wearing stability, comfort, speaker positioning and sound leakage in addition to standard Bluetooth audio functions.

Is regulatory certification performed in your factory?

Regulatory requirements vary by market and product. Where formal certification or accredited testing is required, it should be handled according to the applicable requirements. We do not present this page as a claim of accredited laboratory status.

Can a customer define additional test requirements?
